Mood:

Annoyed
Okay, so this is a topic that I and a lot of people have beaten to death, but obviously I'm still annoyed to the point that I feel it necessary to revisit this point.
To us artists on DA who post up artwork:
Generally, we like feedback on our work, be it good or bad. We get people who are very helpful in providing their veiwpoints and criticisms and, provided we're not lazy or too sensitive, we grow with their suggestions. Personally, I don't really care much for comments like, "good artwork!" or "cute!" or things like that, but it's still nice to get them. I admit, it's nice knowing people like my work. However, I more appreciate the comments that say "the nose is a little off" or "the lighting on the blahblah doesn't match the lightsource in the overall picture." Things of that nature. I prefer constructive criticism so that I can improve on my drawings. ...though most time I'm too stubborn to change a certain way I do things (like those annoying YuGiOh DX character designs--HOW do they get hair that way???). There is a difference between one's artstyle and what's proportionally accurate, but I feel that if you can convey your style through your work, proportion isn't so bad.
ANYWAY. My POINT is this: if you're going to comment on someone's work, make it relevant. Don't put in a big backstory on how OMG you love DBZ and the episode where "Freezer" f*cking did a triple backflip and a super olly or however-the-f*ck it's spelled, or how you wanted to draw this EXACT SAME "PIC" but your stupid 'baka' science teacher told you that you need to work on your definitions (followed by that ANNOYING face " >< " ).
This, to me, also applies to blogs, journal entries; whatever. If I post up a journal, I want to see relevant comments. Not cryptic messages. Not f*cking silly shit like "hahaha babies in pies" if I didn't mention anything of the sort. The bad thing with DA is that I can't delete a lot of the comments that I receive that I feel have no connection to the idea I expressed. EVEN CRYPTIC ONES. You know which ones I mean. The ones where the person conveys his/her message through metaphors and stupid symbolism. I can get things, people. If you want to say something, SAY. SOMETHING. comprehensive and not something that you feel sounds silly and stupid, but really has meaning. Save that sh*t for my front page where I can ignore you everyday. Not my journals that I post up.
Because it's irritating.
And right now, I'm totally disgusted with a lot of DA members all across the board. Like a lot of people have already noticed, and I too have noticed and probably mentioned, DA is no longer about art. It's about page hits, views, comments, Daily Deviations, Daily Top Favorites, and annoying the f*cking hell out of your fellow artists. It's about not crediting original artists, starting unnecessary fights, and involving people who don't need to be involved in discussions, arguments, and other things.
It's about wanting to get attention through stupid ideas like "OOOOOH I'm CUTTING myself" and "HERE'S HOW BAD IT IS" and "I WANT TO COMMIT SUICIDE" and ALL THAT CAPS. It's about how "MY MOM DOESN'T LET ME DO THIS" and how "EVERYONE LOOK FORWARD TO MY NEXT UPDATE" when you know that probably only three people watch you. DA is more about false identities and false skill than actual personality and artistry. It's about basing the talent of an artist through irrelevant things like page views (to be REALLY good, you should have reached 100,000 in about five months--don't worry that exposure TAKES TIME, because apparently, that's BULLSH*T). It's about drawing every f*cking guy to look like a F*CKING GIRL every two seconds, and talking about how alchemy ONLY ever existed in "FMA" (because forget that you can actually TYPE OUT "Full Metal Alchemist," those letters obviously don't fit in the same sentence). It's about portraying gay men the ONLY WAY GAY MEN ARE PORTRAYED, and APPARENTLY that's through crossdressing in school girl outfits, maid uniforms, party dresses, and whatever-the-f*CK popped out of your Barbie PlayHouse Mansion when you were cleaning your room last night (because
BAKA mom probably told you to do so).
OH YEAH. DA's also about three thousand clubs, gangs, and circles that probably have more to do with immaturity and OTHER bullshitake than actual art, but I suppose that's under false identities.
So, here's to you,
DA, and
several of your members who obviously don't know ANYTHING about art, or they wouldn't have to resort to immature means and acting like five-year-olds who f*cking sh*t their pants because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 was just too damned much to take in at 7:30, NBC Primetime.
OH YEAH.
I haven't forgotten that I owe some people artwork. If you need to, contact me through my e-mail listed above, or you can note me. I'll be checking my notes for a little while.
Anyway. Since DA and it's most members are just causing me problems, I'd might as well not have anything to do with either of them. Yeah, I could just ignore it, but I've been so displeased with DA for a while now.
